Check out the WorldBeat Cultural Center’s 15th annual International Dance and Music Festival this Sunday, May 31, 2009, from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., at Seaport Village Downtown San Diego. The festival is dedicated to South African native, Miriam Makeba, otherwise known as Mama Africa, who devoted her life to music and civil rights activism. Featuring great music and remarkable dancing, the goal of this event is to unite all community members, from dancers, musicians, and artists to students, teachers, immigrants, and refugees, in sharing their culture. This festival will aim to increase awareness about the importance of dance and music among the government, systems of education and the general public. 2009 Busker Festival
Acrobats, jugglers, musicians and sword swallowers show off their extraordinary talents at the 2009 Busker Festival at Seaport Village Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, from noon - 5 p.m. This free festival is fun for the whole family! Guests 18 and older can visit the Saturday night party “Buskers After Dark” – an unedited show accompanied with a DJ from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Seaport Village food court area. Seaport Village is located at West Harbor Drive and Pacific Highway, adjacent to Embarcadero Park North. Visitors receive two hours of free validated parking with any purchase.
